Master Bedroom dreaming.

I am dreaming of my master bedroom.
We will finally have a big enough bedroom for a king sized bed.
Plus, two night stands!
And we will have ample closet space, so I don't have to live out of laundry baskets and Adam's clothes can be on the floor of his closet instead of the floor of the bedroom!
And also, our walls don't have to be white.

We went with a rich brown color for the master bedroom walls. (forgive me, but I can't remember for the life of me the name of the darn color swatch---I'll figure it out when we show it to you on the walls)

Some of my inspiration...

The color we chose is sort of in between the first two colors. We wanted our room to be cozy, warm, and relaxing.

For the master bathroom, we went with just a lighter shade of the bedroom color.

What do you think? What accent colors do you suggest? I love the look of whites and creams but I need a little color to spruce it up too. My mother suggested turquoise.

  1. Brown is pretty flexible so you can pair it with a variety of accent colours depending on your taste and how much your male counterpart will protest :P

Turquoise could definitely work but I would be wary of jumping right in. maybe try and find some examples of rooms using brown & turquoise colour palettes and see how you feel about it. You could also start small with a swatch of fabric or a paint chip next to the walls and use that as a visual guideline.

I really like your inspiration pictures, the white brightens up the space while keeping it [gender] neutral without being too boring. Warmer accent colours like reds, oranges and yellows could work too as long as they're not over done, but you might end up with a fall or harvest vibe going on.

    1. One of the reasons we went with brown was because the husband thought it was manly. Little does he know I will still be throwing all kinds of girly stuff in there!

  2. I love where you're headed. The brown will feel so rich and calming! Are you doing white trim too? I love the idea of turquiose, or even a salmon color (don't know how your hubby would feel about it though!)

  3. How about just tell me what it will be like to not have clothes on the floor... Please... devote an entire post about it so that I can live vicariously through you!
I like the idea of yellow or turquoise, maybe both together.

  6. Super cozy! I love the middle picture (and the hot pink flowers - not sure what your husband would think of that!!). I love your mom's idea of turquoise. Monochromatic can be nice too...brown, beige, tan, cream, white...and then play with patterns. Fun!

  8. I like the pops of green from the plants in the last picture, it looks so fresh. I think I'd do beiges and creams with small bits of green throughout. Brown is so flexible that I am sure it will look great no matter which accent color you pick!!

  10. i love it! i'm not usually a brown girl, but this is all chocolatey and delicious. it definitely looks rich and inviting for a master! cream or white trim is a must!! And for accents, i like your mom's turquoise suggestion a lot. what about a bright blue too? that always looks nice with brown. Or a tiffany blue for that matter...
